Help REAP continue
Structured Literacy training
at Georgia College

This winter REAP kicked off our ground-breaking program to train pre-service teachers in Structured Literacy. We’re working with education students at Georgia College. Our first cohort of 100 juniors and seniors enjoyed learning about sound production, sounds, deck drills, closed and open syllables, the Alphabet King, and more.

Students are already embracing what they've learned
One student reported that she has already shared her knowledge with her host teacher, who implemented the new content into her classroom teaching. The student also had a recent job interview. When they asked her if she had unique skills that their current teachers might benefit from, she eagerly told them about her REAP training.

REAP is expanding the training at Georgia College
REAP is very excited to be working with pre-service teachers. Imagine if every teacher was equipped from Day 1 with the skills to effectively teach reading!

REAP plans to expand the Georgia College training in 2020 and 2021 to include rising juniors. We also plan to offer a Faculty Workshop on the science of reading. REAP would administer the workshop and provide faculty all the resources, including the presentation, for use it in their curriculum.

Help us fund continued pre-service teacher training
Thanks to IDA-Georgia for their assistance in helping to fund the initial phase of this training. Now we’re working on funding the next phase of continued training for rising seniors, and initial training for rising juniors. As a nonprofit organization, we need your help to keep up the important work we do with current and future teachers. 37% of Georgia 4th graders can't read at a basic level, so students need great reading teachers more than ever!

With your donation we can look forward to a day when all teachers arrive at their first classroom confident that they can transform struggling readers into successful learners!

The Reading League comes to Georgia

REAP is bringing The Reading League to GA! We're hosting an event to introduce The Reading League and to support their mission to advance the awareness, understanding, and use of evidence-aligned reading instruction.

Due to COVID-19, our April event has been canceled and will be rescheduled.

Stay tuned for more details!

Thank you to the
Rotray Club of East Cobb
for funding Structured Literacy training

REAP sends a huge THANK YOU to the Rotary Club of East Cobb! They've awarded REAP a generous grant to provide Structured Literacy training for four Cobb County teachers.

REAP has trained teachers at many Cobb County schools, including Brumby, Shallowford Falls, Sedalia Park, Nicholson, and Blackwell. With this grant, we can train more teachers in these schools with large numbers of struggling readers. These four teachers impact 88 Cobb County readers every year.

Thank you for believing in REAP’s mission, and thank you for supporting the work we do to build stronger readers in Cobb County schools!
COVID -19 Planning

REAP is preparing for the aftermath of COVID-19. The children who struggle to read and write will be even further behind after extended school closures. We are using this time to adjust our programs and craft a plan to provide even more support to those students and their teachers once school resumes.
