REAP helps prepare preschoolers for
learning to read
REAP is taking on a new challenge: early literacy for preschoolers. REAP is partnering with the Boyce L. Ansley School to work with teachers and students on phonological awareness, the foundation for learning to read. The goal of the program is to get students ready for reading by recognizing and working with sounds in spoken language.
"The children are bright, eager to learn and enthusiastic. I have seen confidence build with each success, which is really important. The cycle of poverty is likely to be repeated if children are not able to read by the third grade."
— Stephanie Moss, REAP Literacy Leader
The Boyce L. Ansley School is a tuition-free private school for children of families who have experienced homelessness in the Atlanta area. Their mission is to break the cycle of generational poverty through education and family support.
